First let me be quick to admit that I am no tea expert. I cannot simply sniff a tea and tell you the time of day it was picked or the color of the shirt the picker was wearing when they picked it. I just love tea and am learning every day. Second, I have bought tea from a lot of places. Early on I made my share of ebay mistakes and I have bought from some of the best on line direct sourcing venders. Currently I have 9 different teas from King Tea (a few of these include samples that he sends along with each order). Regardless, they are all exceptional, top quality teas. John does a fantastic job sourcing the teas he sells so that his customers can enjoy a high grade tea at a very good price. If you have bought from him before, you already know this. If you are considering a first time purchase, you can buy with confidence. And just to clear up any doubt, I have not received any discount, payment, or free tea in exchange for my review. I know how daunting it can be to try and feel your way through the online tea world and I have always appreciated the honest help others are able to give.
Now to my review of Bokuryo (this is King Tea’s brand name) Roasted Classical Flavor Tie Guan Yin Oolong:

A little background: it is my understanding that the Charcoal Roasted Tie Guan Yin is the most traditional manner of processing this tea and that these lighter roasted (greener) variations are a newer processing approach to this tea. In any case this newer approach is very popular and yields a fantastic tea. The Bokuryo Roasted Classical Flavor is a wonderful representation of this approach to Tie Guan Yin Oolong.

Steeping: I used a Gaiwan, 200° water, one rinse (~7seconds) and then steeped 20 seconds adding 10 seconds each steep (until the tea became a little weaker and so I increased the steep time incrementally).

Flavor: the classic roast Tie Guan Yin has a floral, Honey Suckle taste and fragrance that is simply divine. There is no astringency (bitter dryness). It is simply Oolong goodness. It reminds me quite a bit of Huang Jin Gui Golden Osmanthus Oolong Tea- to the point that if you own one there is probably no reason to purchase the other (especially if you are just starting out and want to try teas that are distinct in flavor). That said, to me the classic roast Tie Guan Yin is a bit greener than the Huang Jin Gui in a very pleasing way. As such, it is a bit more complex than the Huang Jin Gui with more layers of flavor. In turn, the greenness plays nicely in the background with the Honey Suckle being the primary note. At the end of the day, it tastes like robust spring in full bloom.

Mouth feel: the classic roast Tie Guan Yin has a wonderful thick mouth feel that I would say is comparable to a Silver Needle white tea. This simply adds to the pleasure of this delightful tea.

Bottom line: this is a great example of a floral, Honey Suckle Oolong and is well worth your purchase.
